Regional TID for Storrington players
(January 12, 2011)Storrington LTC has had two of its most promising juniors progress through the County Talent Identification (ID) stages (for Sussex), to the Regional stage.
The Regional Talent ID for the South East of England will take place at Sutton Tennis academy on Friday 14th January. Congratulations to Joe Trees and Finley Shephard (both Mini Orange U8). It is the first time Storrington have had juniors qualify for the Regional stages and it is a great achievement considering some counties in the South East haven't got any players at the Regional level, for Storrington as a club to have two players at this level is excellent.
It is possible for Regional players to qualify through to National Talent ID, where players will then receive some funding for their tennis directly from the LTA.
Other SLTC juniors Alex Manktelow and Alex Tatchell also represented the club very well at the County Talent ID, and in some cases where unfortunate not to get through to the Regional stage.
The Talent ID for the LTA involves a number of physical and tennis tests, including matchplay, in which players are compared and graded on their performance.
One thing is for sure, the future looks bright for these young players and SLTC.
