Sussex Ladies County Week

(July 29, 2009)
Caroline Goldring captained the Sussex Ladies team in Division 3 of the national County Week competition. The 5 day event took place 20th-24th July in Havant, and consisted of 3 doubles pairs playing 3 matches each day on grass, with 6 counties in the group. The team came 4th in the group, so will remain in group 3 for next year.

Sussex were fortunate to have former British no.1, Julie Pullin in the team, for the first two days, so started the week off strongly. Later in the week, the team competed in some very close matches, and were unfortunate not to get a few more wins, to ensure promotion to division 2.

There are 7 divisions in total, with 6 counties competing in each, and a sperate men's competition. Division 1 is played at Devonshire Park, Eastbourne. This year, North of Scotland welcomed World no.3, Andy Murray into their team. He competed one of the days much to the delight of the other players and spectators.
